Responsible for setting the strategic direction of the College and ensuring its delivery, the Executive Team at Ashford College is led the Group Principal and CEO and the Deputy Group Principal and Deputy CEO.

Group Principal and CEO

Paul Hannan began lecturing in further education in 1985 after completing a BA (Hons) Degree in Public Administration and a PGCE in Business Studies.  He joined Hadlow College in 2000 when he was appointed Associate Principal, then between 2002 and 2005 Paul was appointed the Acting Principal, finally in June 2005 Paul was appointed the Principal and Chief Executive of Hadlow College.  Paul has successfully managed the College though a period of significant change culminating in a successful OFSTED Inspection in 2010 when the College was awarded a grade 1 (Outstanding) for all of its provision.

Paul was in the first group of Principals to successfully complete in 2004 the Senior Leadership Programme with the Centre of Excellence & Leadership.  Paul is also an Executive Board member of Landex (Land-based Colleges Aspiring to Excellence), member of Greenwich University Principals' Strategic group, an Executive Board member of Lifelong Learning, Kent and Medway and also is a Governor of Hadlow Primary School.

Mark Lumsdon-Taylor

Deputy Group Principal and Deputy CEO

Mark Lumsdon-Taylor attended Keele University where he read Law and Economics, and on leaving obtained a position as auditor within a top London firm in 1997. He quickly rose to become director of audit.

Mark joined Hadlow College in 2002 with an initial brief as a ‘trouble shooter’ to design and implement a fiscal recovery and to effect change within the College’s central services. He was formally appointed to the Senior Management Team in 2003 with responsibility for finance, commercial and global operations. He was appointed Director of Finance & Resources in 2004 after extensive work following  further recovery and reorganisation of the College’s activities, which is now in the top category for financial stability and rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted.

Mark has been instrumental in building Hadlow College into a regional and national brand for land based education and services to industry. Mark’s work has been acknowledged by being awarded UK Finance Director of the Year (Public Sector) in 2007 and again as a runner up in 2010. The College has recently been awarded the prestigious Financial for the Future ‘Public Sector’ Winner for UK in June 2012.

Group Vice Principal Quality, Standards and Performance

A qualified teacher with significant experience of Ofsted, Lindsay joined Hadlow College as a sessional lecturer in 1996, whilst studying for a PhD in Biological Control. In 2000 Lindsay was appointed at Hadlow College as a full time Science lecturer and later became the Head of Horticulture and Floristry.

Lindsay was appointed to the Senior Management Team at Hadlow College in 2010 and then into her current role across the Hadlow Group in 2016. With her team, including the Teaching, Learning and Improvement Manager, Advanced Learning Practitioners, Subject Learning Coaches and the Quality Co-ordinators, she is responsible for the overall quality of the teaching and learning experience, supporting staff to develop their skills, the quality of the curriculum provision, the Teacher Training programme and staff development. She is also responsible for Higher Education and Research lead by the Group Head of Higher Education and the Hadlow College Pre-School based in Hadlow village.

Beverley Cleves

Group Vice Principal Student Support Services and Curriculum

Beverley Cleves is the Group Vice Principal for Student Support Services and the Vice Principal for Curriculum at West Kent and Ashford College.

She started her career as a lecturer in 1996, progressing to curriculum section leader within a specialist residential land based college where her focus was on FE, HE and curriculum rescource development which included establishing a range of industry links for animal management. She then moved into General FE as Head of Quality and Student Support Services with additional responsibility for the Health and Social Care and Public Services curriculum provision.

She joined Hadlow College in 2008, leading Student Support Services and the student residential provision. She has successfully led a range of curriculum and support teams through three residential care Ofsted inspections, achieving outstanding in every aspect of all three inspections. Beverley was appointed as a member of the Senior Management Team in 2010, Assistant Principal for Student Support Services for the Hadlow Group in October 2014 and in 2016 became a member of the Hadlow Group Executive team as Group Vice Principal for Student Support Services and Curriculum at West Kent and Ashford College.

Beverley has a first class honours degree in Biochemistry, a Post Graduate Diploma in Law and the Post Graduate Certificate in Education for post compulsory education. She qualified as a Veterinary Nurse with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, is a senior safeguarding lead and completed the LSIS Senior Leadership Course for Aspiring Principals in 2012.
