Financial Support for Higher Education Students 2017/18

Student Finance England provides a comprehensive package of government-funded financial support for students from England who join one of the College’s Higher Education programmes (i.e. an HNC, HND, Foundation Degree, BA Top-Up or the Diploma in Education and Training). There are a variety of grants (which you don’t have to pay back) and loans (which you do). If you take out a loan to pay your tuition fee, you won’t have to pay anything up front and you won’t begin making repayments until the April after you’ve left your programme. Unlike a bank loan, repayments will be linked to your earnings after you finish your studies, so you won’t start repaying until you’re earning over £21,000 per year, and any amount outstanding after 30 years will be written off.
